Hi, I'm Jessi! I
am a senior at the University of Kansas Medical Center
in the Nursing program. I am currently working part time in the
Mother/Baby unit at a hospital and hope to work in women's services when I graduate. I
started babysitting with my older brother around the age of 9. I enjoyed
it so much, I have been babysitting and working as a
nanny from then on, forming a lot of special relationships with many
different families and their kids. I have cared for all ages of kids
and even children with special needs. I think it is extremely
important, on my part, to involve your kids in all the activities they
find fulfilling, and maybe even introduce them to new things. I am
living in Kansas City now, and with my busy schedule I find myself
mostly babysitting for people here, but I am open to coming back to
Lawrence and babysitting families there too! I am so excited to meet
you and your family! |
 |
Hi my name is April. I
am in graduate school at the University of Kansas, in social
work. I absolutely love spending
time with children. I have been employed with the Boys
and Girls Club of Lawrence for 3 years and in addition coach
volleyball and basketball for the children there. I am
also a special education para at Deerfield Elementary and have
been trained to work with special needs children. I have
had many wonderful experiences with all the children I work
with! I love Kansas basketball and any sports activity. I
also enjoy reading, art projects, and movies. I am glad
to be involved with Sunflower Sitters and look forward to meeting
your family soon! |
 |
Hi, my name is Brittany. I'm
currently a 4th year student at the University of Kansas, and
I'm
majoring in Applied Behavior Science with a concentration in
Community Health and Development. I started teaching
swimming lessons when I was twelve years old, and then was
a lifeguard for five years. I also babysat for many different
families in my home town. I've been working at
Boys and Girls Club in Lawrence for one year now, it's
such a fun and rewarding job! I adore children and have
had many good experiences with them! I've been
involved in tennis, swimming, basketball, volleyball and golf--so
I love playing sports! I also enjoy outdoors, crafts
and watching a good movie. I'm excited to be apart
of Sunflower Sitters, and I can't wait to meet your family! |
 |
Hi! My name is Haily and
I am a senior at the University of Kansas majoring in Community
Health. From the time I was born to the present I have been
involved with my mom's in-home daycare. I have always taken
the motherly role with my three siblings and the daycare children.
Caring for, playing with and nurturing children is what comes
natural for me. I also enjoy spending time outdoors, scrapbooking,
cooking and attending KU sporting events. I am excited to be
a Sunflower Sitter and look forward to meeting you and your
family soon! |
 |
Hi, I'm Lindsey! I
am a junior at the University of Kansas and am majoring in
Business Leadership and Management. I'm from Iowa and
previous to Sunflower Sitters knew no families that were
in need of babysitters, which is the only job I was
interested in! I have been babysitting since I was
in 6th grade and have experience with all ages of children. I
have been a nanny for the past 3 years for the very first
family I babysat for back in 6th grade and have gained
so much experience from them. I loved taking them to
their activities and watching them grow up. I love
helping children with their homework or reading, cooking
for them, and then of course the fun activities! I look forward
to meeting you and your family! |
 |
Hi, I'm Melissa. I'm
a senior at the University of Kansas this year. I'm
majoring in Women's Studies and planning on getting
my masters in Social Work. My experiences in childcare
began when I was nine and my youngest sister was born; I
adopted the role of mother more than I did big sister. My
babysitting became an official job when I was thirteen, and
I have had the privilege of meeting a lot of great families
and becoming part of some very special kid's lives. There
is nothing more exciting for me than taking care of your
kids and making sure that their experience with me as their
sitter is fun and memorable. I love arts and crafts,
playing outside, board games, and reading books. I'm
very excited to have the opportunity to meet you and your
kids! |
 |
Hi, I'm Kylie! I
am currently a sophmore at the University of Kansas, and I
am majoring in business. I have grown up around younger
children because my mom runs a daycare in our home. I
have taken after my mom and love taking care of and being around
children. In
my spare time I like to hang out with my friends, go shopping,
take pictures and attend KU sporting events. I am very
excited to be with Sunflower Sitters and look forward to meeting
you and your family! |
 |
Hi, I'm Kelly!
I am a junior at the University of Kansas studying Journalism
and Political Science. I am from Iowa and have been babysitting
for as long as I can remember. Last summer I was a nanny for
a family with two children, it was by far the best job experience
I have ever had. I look forward to seeing them every time I
go home. I love children of all ages, and doing all kinds of
activities. I like to make the babysitting experience fun and
helpful for your children, whether it be playing games or helping
with homework. I look forward to meeting you and your family! |
 |
Hi! My name is Meg.
I am from Omaha, Nebraska. I have two older siblings, making
me the baby. I am a junior at the University of Kansas. I am
majoring in Business Marketing with concentrations in International
Business and Spanish. I am planning on studying abroad next
year and hope to travel a lot after college. I began babysitting
at a young age and now I am a full-time nanny every summer.
I also babysit a fun loving 10 year old boy during the week.
I love children and have learned so much from all of my past
and present experiences. I have been involved in swimming and
golf and love to be outside. I am very adventurous and outgoing.
I am so excited to apart of the Sunflower Sitters’ team
and cannot wait to meet your family! |
 |
Hi, my name is Samantha and
I'm a junior at the University of Kansas and a nursing major.
From the time I turned 16 and was able to drive I started babysitting.
I have cared for many different families and on many different
occasions. During the past summers I have been a nanny and
been with the children the entire summer. I have also babysat
for a family with four girls and have stayed overnight with
them. I'm very athletic, outgoing, responsible, flexible, and
very adaptable to all situations. I would love to meet you
and your family. Look forward to meeting you! |

Hi, my name is Lauren and
I am from Ozark, Missouri. I am a junior at KU and I am majoring
in Political Science. I began babysitting for the kids next
door to me when I was ten years old and have been working with
kids as often as possible ever since. Throughout junior high
and high school I babysat for many families in Ozark but once
I moved to Lawrence, where I knew no one, I realized how much
I missed babysitting and being around kids. I began volunteering
through the Adopt-a-School program last fall where I work at
Hillcrest Elementary School twice a week. I am looking forward
to begin babysitting for families here in Lawrence and getting
to spend more time with kids. I can't wait to meet you and
your family! |
 |
Hi, my name is Stephanie and
I am from Overland Park, KS. I
am going to be a junior this fall at KU. I am majoring
in Nursing and Social Welfare. I have been babysitting
for as long as I can remember! However, my best experience
comes from my sister. She was born when I was 10 years
old, and from then on my parents trained me in everything from
diapers to bottles. I have also been working at the nursery
at my church for 5 years now watching these children grow from
infants to little kids! I enjoy reading, games, and playing
soccer! I am a very responsible, outgoing person, and
I look forward to meeting you and your family. |
 |
My name is Julie, and I am a 33
year-old mommy of a 20 month-old little boy named Justin. In
college in Iowa, I babysat regularly for an area family, and
I also nannied for a former professor. While that was some
time ago, my recent hands-on experience as a full-time, stay-at-home
mommy has prepared me for the challenges and joys of caring
for infants and toddlers. When Justin was 4 months old, my
husband and I started using Sunflower Sitters, and we were
thrilled with the service. Now, I would welcome the opportunity
to help you through the difficult transition back into the
social scene by leaving your young baby or child in my care. |
 |
My name is Breann.
I am from Omaha, Nebraska and I am studying to be an elementary
education teacher at KU. I have a huge family
and have been around little kids for as long as I can remember. I
have around 50 first cousins and grew up babysitting. Over
the past few summers I have been a nanny for different families
that have as many as five children. My family has also
been a foster family in Omaha, Nebraska for six years so
I have a lot of experiences with diverse children. A
couple things I like to do with children when I am babysitting
is play outdoors, play board games, and watch movies. |
 |
Hi! My name is Ellie;
I am currently a sophomore at KU and am majoring in Business
Administration. I am originally from Boston, MA and although
I do miss home, I love Lawrence and KU. I am really excited
to be working with Sunflower Sitters. I have been really
wanting to baby-sit and be able to work with kids, but since
I’m not from the area I didn’t know of any families who needed
a sitter. I have loved children since I can remember. I took
a babysitting course when I was 10 years old and starting
mother helping and then, as I got older I began to baby-sit
more on my own. I really do enjoy being with kids and helping
them learn and grow up. When I wasn’t babysitting or in school,
I was playing any and every sport I could. I am and a very
active person. I like to be outside playing games and sports.
I also like doing arts and crafts and little projects with
kids. I really enjoy spending time with kids and doing any
kind of activity with them. I can’t wait to get to know you
and your family and get to spend time with your kids. |

My name is Amy and I am a junior
at the University of Kansas. I am originally from St.
Louis, MO and I came to Lawrence for the Pharmacy program. I
plan to apply this fall. I have three older brothers,
2 nieces and 2 nephews. I have a lot of experience babysitting,
including a nanny job in the summer for two kids and working
as a camp counselor for children with special needs. I
also babysit for my own nieces and nephews. I love to
do art and crafts and I play volleyball in my free time. |
 |
Hi my name is Natalie, and I am
a Junior majoring in Speech, Language, and Hearing (Speech
Pathology) at KU. I am from St. Louis, MO which of course
makes me a huge Cardinals baseball fan. I began my experience
with children in my early teens babysitting for family friends. I
still babysit for most of those families when I visit home.
Also, I was a lifeguard for four years, so I am very comfortable
with first aid and CPR. This last summer I was a camp counselor
who worked with children from ages 3 to 12, and absolutely
loved my job! I believe my earlier experiences with children
has helped me possess qualities like patience, responsibility,
and an optimistic outgoing personality. I enjoy anything that
has to do with the outdoors, baking, board games, and especially
arts and crafts! I look forward to meeting you and your
children! |
 |
Hi, I'm Emily!
I am a freshman at the University of Kansas, studying nursing
with the hopes of being a midwife someday! Omaha, Nebraska
is my home town but I absolutely love Lawrence and the Jayhawks,
and I am so excited to become a part of Sunflower Sitters.
I have babysat since I was 12 for children of all ages. During
the summers of high school I was a full time nanny and loved
the opportunity to become close with a family and especially
their children. I love to be active and outdoors! I have taught
swim lessons in the past, and also played basketball and ran
cross country. If the weather keeps me in, I love to bake all
sorts of goodies! I can't wait to meet some new families in
my new town! |

Hi, I’m Ashley! I’m
currently in my last year here at the University of Kansas
majoring in Applied Behavioral Science with an emphasis in
Community Health and working towards a minor in Communication
Studies. Although this is my last year here at KU, I’m
from Kansas City and plan on returning home after graduation,
so I won’t be far from Lawrence. I’m still in the
process of completing my Practicum, where I have worked in
the Juvenile system as well as currently working with adolescents
who have Autism. I started babysitting when I was twelve and
have always had a passion for working with kids. I have
brother who is five years younger than me and I’m the
oldest cousin, so I have spent a lot of time helping out with
my family. I love animals as well and actually have a puppy
of my own as well as three other dogs and a cat back home.
I’ve grown up all over the United States and love being
outside as well as playing sports. I grew up around the water
and have been swimming for as long as I can remember. My parents
kept me very involved as a child in dance, gymnastics, cheerleading,
basketball, soccer and many more activities. After college
I hope to go to nursing school and eventually work in Labor
and Delivery or the Neonatal unit of a hospital. I’m
extremely excited to be working with Sunflower Sitters and
looking forward to meeting you and your family! |

at once! I've been CPR and First Aid certified for the last
six years as well. I have a background with kids of all ages,

Civil Engineering. I’m from the Overland Park area and
I’ve been babysitting since middle school. I babysat
for many of the same families for many years and I have also
worked as a full time nanny during the summers. I’ve
kept children of all ages including some with special needs.
I have been a dancer my entire life so I love being active
and playing outside! I also love playing board games and any
other imaginative games children can think up! I’m so
excited to be babysitting again with Sunflower Sitters and
I look forward to meeting you and your children! |

Hi, I'm Meredith! I am a sophomore
at KU and am majoring in Audiology/Speech Pathology. I am
a coordinator of Jubilee Cafe, a soup kitchen that serves
breakfast a few mornings a week to the homeless in Lawrence.
I worked at a daycare in Dallas, my hometown, for 2 years
and was a teacher/ teacher's assistant for the 4-year-old
classroom, but have experience with all other ages. I have
been babysitting for 7 years and took the "safe-sitter" course
at the hospital. I love to have fun and engage the kids I
babysit in a variety of activities. I guess you could say
I'm a kid at heart. I also love pets :). In my free time
I love to shop and hang out with friends, or just do nothing
and watch movies to relax. I am super excited to be a Sunflower
Sitter and look forward to meeting you and your family! |

Hi, I’m Kyle. I am a graduate
of The University of Kansas with my Bachelor’s degree
in Human Development and Family Life with an emphasis in Child
Care and Development. I recently graduated from Rockhurst University
earning a Master’s degree in Elementary Education. I
have always enjoyed working with children. Growing up I babysat
for different families in the neighborhood and knew I wanted
to work with children as a career. My most recent experience
includes working as instructional support within the Lawrence
school district during the 2007-2008 school year. This past
year I have been working as a 4th grade teacher in the Center
School District of Kansas City. I have many years of experience

My name is Emily. I'm originally
from St. Louis, MO but I have been living steadily in Lawrence,
KS for the past three years; I just finished my junior year
at the University of Kansas. I'm working towards a degree in
Sociology with a minor in History. I'm a member of Kappa Alpha
Theta sorority and I'm active within the KU and Greek communities.
I have lots of experience working with children as young as
6 months and up to 15 years old. Besides babysitting, I've
worked at summer camps, been employed as a full time nanny,
and I've traveled with families to watch their children on
vacation. I love to play outside and make up new games but
being inside can be fun too. I love to cook and bake and make
forts! I am the oldest of 5 children so I'm used to a house
full of noise, chaos, and busy schedules. I'm responsible,
mature, friendly, communicative, and I can't wait to meet your
family! |

Hi there! My name is Lindsay and
I'm a senior Vocal Performance major at KU. I'm originally
from Manhattan but I thought I'd try something new when it
came time for college, and I have really loved getting to know
Lawrence and KU. I have been babysitting off and on since middle
school, but the past three summers I have worked full time
with children of all ages. For two summers I nannied twin upper-elementary
aged boys. I had a blast getting to know and understand them
as we played soccer, went to the pool and played games at home.
Last summer I worked with entire families at K-Kaua'i, the
Kanakuk family camp in Branson, Missouri. For the first half
of my time there I worked specifically with 0-4 year olds,
playing inside and outside, doing crafts and short lessons.
I've loved learning more about children over the past few summers
and taking note of the hilarious things that they say and do.
I am eager to begin working with Sunflower Sitters and I'm
excited to get to know you and your family! |

Hi, I’m Heather! I am from
Overland Park, Kansas and I am currently a senior in the Elementary
Education program at the University of Kansas. During the school
year I work at St. John Catholic School in Lawrence in the
after-school care program. I love the time that I get to spend
with the students, helping them with homework and doing activities.
It’s such a great experience to watch them grow and mature
over the years. Naturally, I love babysitting and caring for
children. I have been the “neighborhood babysitter” since
I was 11-years-old! When I am not working or at school I enjoy
spending time outdoors, spending time with friends and family,
reading, and walking. I am very excited to be a Sunflower Sitter
and I look forward to meeting the families soon! |

Hi! My name is Mandee and I
am in my second year of physical therapy school at KU Medical
Center. I'm from Memphis, TN, but have been living in Lawrence
for over 5 years while I've been in school and absolutely
love this town! I am the oldest of 4 kids and I grew up being
a second mom to my sister who is 10 years younger than me.
A passion for kids runs in my family and I definitely inherited
the gene. I have been babysitting since I was about 10 and
can't think of a better job. I've had all kinds of jobs working
with jobs including everything from camp counselor to gymnastics
coach and summer nanny to teacher's aide. I love kids and
their enthusiasm and energy for life and I love engaging them
in activities that use their imagination. In addition to spending
time with kids, I also love to go to KU games, do anything
that involves being outside, bake, and do crafts. |
